Short version: PlateSimple stores everything you log — food entries, goals, macros, weight, settings — only on your device. We never see it, we never upload it, and we have no server-side database of your data. When you search for food or scan a barcode, your query goes to the Open Food Facts public database. If you turn on health sync, PlateSimple exchanges data with Apple Health or Health Connect on your device only. To improve the App we use Google Firebase for usage statistics, crash reports and remote settings, which never contain your food logs or health data (see section 6). Free users see ads via Google AdMob; in the EU/UK you are asked for consent before personalised ads are shown. Premium subscribers get an ad-free experience. We never sell your data.
1. About This Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how ZiBa Entertainment (“we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information in connection with PlateSimple (“the App”), a calorie and macro tracking app available on Google Play and the Apple App Store.
By downloading or using PlateSimple, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

For users in the European Union, ZiBa Entertainment acts as the data controller for any personal data processed in connection with the App.
3. What Data Is Handled & Where It Lives
3.1 Data You Log — Stored Only on Your Device
Everything you enter into PlateSimple is saved locally on your device only, using Android’s SharedPreferences and equivalent local storage on iOS. This includes:
- Food logs, portions, and meal entries
- Calorie and macro goals
- Body weight entries
- Daily history and weekly insights
- App settings and reminder preferences
ZiBa Entertainment has no server, no database, and no access to any of this data, and none of it is included in analytics or crash reports. It exists only on your device and is removed when you uninstall the App or clear its data in your device settings.
3.2 Food Search & Barcode Scanning — Open Food Facts
When you search for food by name or scan a barcode, PlateSimple sends your search query or the barcode number to the Open Food Facts public API (openfoodfacts.org) to retrieve nutritional information. This requires an internet connection.
- The search query or barcode value is transmitted to Open Food Facts’ servers.
- ZiBa Entertainment does not log, store, or have access to these queries.
- Open Food Facts is an independent open-data project. Their privacy practices are described at world.openfoodfacts.org/privacy.
3.3 Apple Health & Health Connect (Optional)
If you switch on health sync, PlateSimple asks for permission to connect to Apple Health (iOS) or Health Connect (Android). You choose which permissions to grant, and you can revoke them at any time in the Health or Health Connect settings.
- Read: active calories burned and body weight (and, on iOS only, today’s step count), to show them next to your daily intake and in your weight log.
- Write: the calories, protein, carbohydrates and fat of the foods you log, and the body weight you enter, so other health apps can use them.
This exchange happens entirely on your device, between PlateSimple and the Health app. Health data is never sent to ZiBa Entertainment, never included in analytics, crash reports or ads, and never shared with third parties. PlateSimple’s use of data received from Health Connect follows the Health Connect Permissions policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
3.4 Data Collected by Third-Party Services
PlateSimple integrates the following third-party services. Each operates under its own privacy policy.

4. How Data Is Used
ZiBa Entertainment uses data only for the following limited purposes:
- Food lookups: Your search query or barcode is sent to Open Food Facts solely to retrieve nutritional data and display it in the App.
- Displaying ads (free users): AdMob uses device identifiers to serve ads that may be personalised based on your advertising preferences.
- Processing subscriptions: We receive a purchase token from Google Play or Apple to activate Premium features on your device.
- Improving the App: Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics and Remote Config help us understand how the App is used, measure our own marketing, fix crashes and tune ad frequency (see Section 6).
- Health sync (optional): Data read from or written to Apple Health or Health Connect is used only to show it in the App and keep the two in step, on your device.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third party for their own marketing purposes.
5. Advertising & Google AdMob
The free version of PlateSimple is supported by advertising served by Google AdMob. Three ad formats are used:
- Banner ads — shown at the bottom of some screens.
- Interstitial ads — shown occasionally after you log a food item.
- Rewarded video ads — optionally watched to unlock the barcode scanner or the weekly insights for the day without a Premium subscription.
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, PlateSimple shows Google’s consent message before any ads are loaded, and personalised ads are shown only if you consent; otherwise AdMob serves non-personalised ads. You can change your choice at any time from Privacy options in the App’s settings.
AdMob may use your Advertising ID to show personalised ads. You can opt out at any time:
- Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalisation.
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising → Turn off Personalised Ads. For Google’s personalisation, visit adssettings.google.com.
Opting out reduces personalisation but does not remove ads from the free version. Subscribing to Premium removes all ads entirely.
Google AdMob is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
6. Usage Analytics, Crash Reports and Remote Settings
To understand how the App is used and to fix problems, PlateSimple uses three Google Firebase services. Google acts as our data processor under the Firebase Data Processing Terms.
- Firebase Analytics records app events, such as opening the App, viewing a screen, logging a food (only the meal slot and whether the food came from the database or a custom entry), viewing the Premium offer and where it was opened from, starting a purchase, a confirmed subscription or free-trial start (the product, its price and currency, and the store transaction ID), and watching a rewarded ad, together with basic device information (device model, operating system and app version, language, approximate country derived from your IP address) and an app-instance ID. On Android it can also use your device’s advertising ID to measure which of our app-store campaigns bring in users. It does not receive the foods you log, portions, calories, goals, body weight or any health data.
- Firebase Crashlytics sends a technical report when the App crashes or hits an error: the stack trace, device model, operating system and app version, and an installation ID. It contains no food logs or health data.
- Firebase Remote Config downloads settings from Firebase, for example how often ads are shown, so we can adjust the App without an update. It does not send your data to us.
We use this information only to improve the App and measure our own marketing, under our legitimate interest in running and improving it (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). We do not sell it, use it to show you ads, or combine it with other data to identify you. Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months and crash reports for up to 90 days. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your Android settings, and you can object to this processing at any time by contacting us (Section 16).
7. Premium Subscriptions
PlateSimple offers a Premium subscription that removes all ads and unlocks weekly nutrition insights. Subscriptions are billed by Google Play (Android) or the Apple App Store (iOS) on a monthly or yearly basis.
- Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
- You can cancel at any time in your Google Play account or Apple ID → Subscriptions settings.
- ZiBa Entertainment never receives, processes, or stores any payment card or billing information.
- Refund requests must be directed to Google Play or the Apple App Store.
8. App Permissions

PlateSimple does not request access to your contacts, location, microphone, or any other sensitive system resources, and it accesses health data only through the optional sync described in Section 3.3.
9. Data Retention & Deletion
Because all your food logs, goals, and settings live only on your device, you are in complete control:
- Delete individual log entries directly within the App.
- Clear all app data via your device’s Settings → Apps → PlateSimple → Clear Data.
- Uninstall the App to remove everything.
ZiBa Entertainment holds no copy of your data and therefore has nothing to delete on our end in response to an erasure request. The above actions fully satisfy such a request.
Firebase data is deleted automatically: analytics data after at most 14 months and crash reports after 90 days. Contact us if you want it deleted sooner. Data you wrote to Apple Health or Health Connect stays there until you delete it in that app.
Data held by other third-party services (AdMob, Open Food Facts) is subject to their own retention policies.
10. Children’s Privacy (COPPA)
PlateSimple is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has been using PlateSimple, please contact us at info@zibaentertainment.com and we will assist appropriately.
In compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), Because the app is not directed at children, ad requests are not marked as child-directed; whether ads are personalised follows the consent choice you make in the app.
11. Your Rights Under GDPR (EU / EEA Users)
If you are in the EU or EEA, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) grants you rights over your personal data. Because all your PlateSimple data is stored locally on your device, you have direct control over it already. For the pseudonymous Firebase usage and crash data (Section 6), contact us and we will help. Here is how each right applies:

Legal basis for processing (GDPR Article 6): The transmission of food search queries to Open Food Facts is necessary to fulfil the core function you requested (contractual necessity, Art. 6(1)(b)). Receiving a subscription confirmation token is likewise based on contractual necessity. Health sync relies on your explicit consent (Art. 6(1)(a) and 9(2)(a)), given through the Health permission screen and revocable at any time. Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics and Remote Config rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the App stable and improving it (Art. 6(1)(f)). Personalised advertising by AdMob relies on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), collected through Google’s consent message in the EEA/UK and withdrawable at any time; non-personalised ads rely on our legitimate interest in offering a free, ad-supported app.
12. International Data Transfers
ZiBa Entertainment is based in the Netherlands (EU). Open Food Facts, Google (Firebase and AdMob), and the app store billing services may process data outside the EEA, including in the United States. Google and Apple rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and other approved mechanisms. Open Food Facts is a French non-profit; see their privacy policy for details on their data transfers.
13. Security
Because PlateSimple does not transmit your food logs, weight or health data to any server, the security of that information depends on your device. Your data lives in the App’s sandboxed local storage, inaccessible to other apps under normal conditions. We recommend keeping your device up to date and using a screen lock.
Queries to the Open Food Facts API and Firebase data are sent over encrypted (HTTPS) connections.
14. Not Nutrition or Medical Advice
PlateSimple is a personal logging and tracking tool. Nutritional values are sourced from the Open Food Facts community database and may not always be complete or accurate. The App does not provide personalised nutrition or medical advice. For dietary guidance, consult a qualified dietitian or healthcare professional.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Effective date” at the top of this page. The latest version will always be available at this URL and linked from the App’s store listings. Continued use of PlateSimple after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
